The Exploded Circus by Mimbre.
The Exploded Circus invites audiences into a moment frozen in time. The remnants of a circus have been caught mid-air following an explosion; circus ring, sequins and fairground horses are all suspended above the ground. Six performers emerge from the debris to deal with the chaos, find order and re-build. Throughout their journey which features acrobatics, aerial work and juggling, risk becomes habitual and trust a necessity.
The concept for The Exploded Circus was developed during residencies at Cherbourg’s creation centre, La Brèche and the 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space, Newbury. The creative team features Lina Johansson, Mimbre’s joint Artistic Director; Loren Elstein, an award-winning production designer who has worked at the Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal Court Theatre, London; and the composer Qinta, an experimental music-maker and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with Bat for Lashes, Patrick Wolf and Scanner.
